The main focus of the ’LiveDiverse’ project was to develop new knowledge on the interactions between human livelihood and biodiversity in riparian and aquatic environments within four developing countries (Costa Rica, India, South Africa and Vietnam).
A crucial element of the project was the high level of importance levied on knowledge dissemination and the constructive engagement of a broad selection of social groups and their governmental and non-governmental representatives. The Livediverse project was based on the assumption that engagement of a broad range of stakeholders throughout a project’s life would help bridge the gap between science and policy, by enhancing both the salience and legitimacy of information.
