Green agricultural and island communities’ programme for Greece’s remote and island areas

The ‘Green agricultural and island communities – new development model’ programme (“ΡΑΣΙΝΕΣ ΑΓΡΟΤΙΚΕΣ ΚΑΙ ΝΗΣΙΩΤΙΚΕΣ "ΚΟΙΝΟΤΗΤΕΣ": ΝΕΟ ΠΡΟΤΥΠΟ ΑΝΑΠΤΥΞΗΣ”) provides support to municipalities. The €50 million programme promotes renewable energy systems and energy efficiency measures in Greek remote and island areas with fewer than 1000 inhabitants. The first call for applications was launched end of 2012, the projects are running between 2013-2015.

Tenerrdis is a competitiveness and innovation cluster located in the French Rhône-Alpes region. It specialises in new energy systems, with 150 members from industry (55% SMEs), research and higher education sectors. Its goal is to help maintain and improve their position in the global market for clean energy. 

Wood Hybrid Building System up to 30 stories

Building and constructing in a sustainable way is becoming more vital given a growing global population and environmental challenges. The company Cree has developed a hybrid timber construction system for reducing resources, time and money when building new public buildings, offices, hotels, restaurants etc. This is achieved by building with wood and a modular construction.

Risk mitigation strategies addressing induced seismic risk of Enhanced Geothermal Systems

The hydraulic pumping process used in Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS) causes seismic risks that raise public concern. The Advanced Traffic Light System developed by the GEISER consortium allows EGS projects to take into account the ‘Induced Seismicity’ risk and thus to set up appropriate strategies to increase public acceptance.
