Green agricultural and island communities’ programme for Greece’s remote and island areas

The ‘Green agricultural and island communities – new development model’ programme (“ΡΑΣΙΝΕΣ ΑΓΡΟΤΙΚΕΣ ΚΑΙ ΝΗΣΙΩΤΙΚΕΣ "ΚΟΙΝΟΤΗΤΕΣ": ΝΕΟ ΠΡΟΤΥΠΟ ΑΝΑΠΤΥΞΗΣ”) provides support to municipalities. The €50 million programme promotes renewable energy systems and energy efficiency measures in Greek remote and island areas with fewer than 1000 inhabitants. The first call for applications was launched end of 2012, the projects are running between 2013-2015.

The Big Lemon is a community interest company in the United Kingdom. The company operates fleets of public transport buses which run entirely on bio-diesel produced from waste cooking oil. 

Flexible loan bike system for urban citizens without stations

OPENbike is a concept for managing a renting bike system. It uses a software tool to handle an IT-system coupled with the bikes, making it easier to find them in the city. The concept was the winner of a design competition in Copenhagen (Denmark), arranged in order to develop a smarter way for people to travel around the city.
