The ‘Green agricultural and island communities – new development model’ programme (“ΡΑΣΙΝΕΣ ΑΓΡΟΤΙΚΕΣ ΚΑΙ ΝΗΣΙΩΤΙΚΕΣ "ΚΟΙΝΟΤΗΤΕΣ": ΝΕΟ ΠΡΟΤΥΠΟ ΑΝΑΠΤΥΞΗΣ”) provides support to municipalities. The €50 million programme promotes renewable energy systems and energy efficiency measures in Greek remote and island areas with fewer than 1000 inhabitants. The first call for applications was launched end of 2012, the projects are running between 2013-2015.

The Baubook system facilitates the exchange of communication and knowledge in relation to the energy and material efficiency of construction materials and processes. Its services encourage municipalities and companies to identify and exploit business opportunities which arise from sustainable construction projects.[1] The Baubook company is a not-for profit public-private partnership in Austria.[2]

COOL-Coverings: a range of nanotech coatings to improve Near Infrared (NIR) reflective properties of buildings

The COOL-Coverings project addressed a range of insulation solutions based on nanotechnology coatings. These coatings aim at improving the Near Infrared (NIR) reflective properties of construction materials, thereby improving the energy efficiency in buildings. A set of new materials was developed to be implemented into several construction components. 

NanoPCM: High performance, low cost, nano-insulation foam with improved LCA

A high performance insulating foam has been developed for building applications by the NanoPCM project. The innovation lies in the encapsulation of Phase Change Materials (PCM) within a polymer matrix with addition of nano materials, the encapsulation being carried out via a zero-waste spray-drying process.

After collecting and sorting the plastic waste, separating and recycling the different types of plastic will typically result in the production of new plastic products.
